Peatlands are hugely important for nature and for tackling climate change and flooding. But 80% of UK peatlands are in a poor condition. These wildlife havens are still being dug up at an alarming rate for use in garden products like compost.
Despite a government pledge to end this, fresh research by Friends of the Earth, Plantlife, RSPB and the Wildlife Trusts reveals how hard it is to find peat-free products in our garden centres.
Our peatlands not only help reduce the threat of climate change but are home to unique plants and animals of global significance.
Add your name to the call for our peat to be protected then spread the word by sharing with your friends on facebook.
