Save our environmental laws from Brexit

Brexit is threatening many of our environmental laws but you have a chance to protect them.

Over the coming weeks MPs will be voting whether to bring over all EU environmental laws into UK law through the Withdrawal Bill (formerly known as the ‘Great Repeal Bill’).

This bill is the first step towards ensuring Brexit doesn’t damage the environment. However, as it stands it is not fit for purpose.

If we don’t get changes to this bill then the laws that make our air clean and our nature thrive could easily fall through the gaps - or even be removed.

This could be a turning point for our environment in the UK - let’s take this chance to fight for a better future.

Ask your MP to save our environmental laws now.

In its current form the Withdrawal Bill fails to fully retain and secure EU environmental law; doesn’t preserve environmental principles such as the precautionary principle; and does not adequately set out a pathway for replacing the vital governance functions currently undertaken by the EU, including monitoring, accountability and enforcement.
