Tell Barclays' Chairman to stop funding fracking in North Yorkshire.

Barclays could be about to end their ties with fracking.

Barclays PLC Chairman has told shareholders it is looking to move its money away from the fracking industry. Now we need to make sure they follow through on their promise.

Barclays Bank currently owns the majority of Third Energy 1 – the company planning to frack Ryedale, close to the North York Moors National Park. During the local planning process in Ryedale, 99% of responses opposed fracking 2.

Fracking poses unacceptable risks to our health and countryside and climate. It means digging up more fossil fuels that we can't afford to burn if we are going to protect people from dangerous climate change.

Make sure that Barclays keep its word.

Barclays’ stated purpose is to “help people achieve their ambitions – in the right way”. The people of Ryedale in North Yorkshire want to live in a clean, pollution-free community that is kept this way for future generations.

During the local planning process, 99% of responses opposed fracking.

Please don’t force fracking on this beautiful area of the country and risk our global climate from further extraction of fossil fuels.

Please fulfill your commitment to our communities, their future and the climate by no longer financing Third Energy’s fracking.

Yours sincerely,
